Online MBA/MPAcc Dual Degree Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
    • If the bachelor’s degree is not in accounting, the applicant will be required to demonstrate significant equivalent undergraduate coursework in accounting* OR complete additional accounting pre-requisite courses
    • If the bachelor’s degree is not in business, the applicant will be required to demonstrate significant equivalent undergraduate coursework in business** OR complete additional MBA pre-requisite courses
  • Overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or cumulative GPA of 3.0 in the last 90 quarter or 60 semester-graded postsecondary credit hours** OR:
    • Applicants with a GPA of at least 2.5 in the last 90 quarter or 60 semester-graded credits of postsecondary academic coursework AND at least three years of professional work experience as verified by a professional resume will be considered on a case-by-case basis
    • Applicants with a GPA of at least 2.5 in the last 90 quarter or 60 semester-graded credits of postsecondary academic coursework AND an index score (GPA x 200 + GMAT) ≥ 1050 will be considered on a case-by-case basis

The online MBA and MPAcc Dual Degree curriculum is comprised of 16 courses (64 credit hours), including 24 credit hours of MBA core courses, 12 credit hours of MPAcc core courses, 12 credit hours of MBA electives, and 16 credit hours of MPAcc electives. If you don't have a business or accounting undergraduate degree, you will be required to take additional credit hours of foundation courses.

Foundation courses provide the opportunity to gain additional knowledge needed to be successful in subsequent coursework.

  • Students with a bachelor's degree in business from an accredited college or university may not be required to take foundation coursework.
  • Students with a non-business bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university will be required to take foundation coursework unless they are able to show competency in the required foundation areas, based on previous academic coursework. Required foundations will be assessed on a course-by-course basis.
  • BADM 502 can also be satisfied with Ivy equivalent courses. Contact MBA Advisor for details.

This accelerated course deals with the application of basic theory and analytical techniques to financial decision making. Topics include time value of money, risk and return, capital management, cost of capital, option theory, capital structure decisions, dividend policy, and the market for corporate control. Note: this MBA foundation course, a prerequisite to all MBA finance courses, does not count toward the required MBA degree credits.

An accelerated course in descriptive and inferential statistics, including basic regression analysis, chi-square analysis and quality control methodology. Note: this MBA foundation course, a prerequisite to BADM 520, does not count toward the required MBA degree credits.

This course explores models and methods of production and service management. It provides a conceptual foundation and quantitative tools that can be applied to specific business problems. Topics may include, but are not limited to, process choice, product design, quality management, principles of supply chain management, facility planning, forecasting, inventory management and scheduling.

A career in management is likely to involve decision making based on data. It is important to be able to organize and use data appropriately and intelligently to make decisions. This course provides an understanding of the statistical and data analysis tools that are necessary in managerial decision making. It should make you aware of how data analysis tools can be used and misused within an organization. Prerequisites: successful completion of BADM 503 or approved equivalency.

This course covers an analysis of valuation issues and project analysis as well as the relationship between risk, capital structure, cost of capital and dividend policy. It asks the student to think about principled leadership through three complex lenses: personal character, accountability, and pragmatism (ethical action in an uncertain, competitive, and imperfect world). Each of these lenses reflects traditions in moral philosophy and each emphasizes fundamental aspects of leaders' responsibilities.

This capstone course requires students to use knowledge from all previous coursework to analyze, evaluate, and solve complex organizational problems in case study, simulation or projects formats. It builds on that knowledge to develop strategic thinking about organizations and their environments in conditions of uncertainty. Prerequisites: be registered in the last or second-to-last quarter of the MBA program.

Foundation courses provide the opportunity to gain additional knowledge needed to be successful in subsequent coursework.

  • Students with a bachelor's degree in accounting may not be required to take MPAcc foundation coursework.
  • Students who do not hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting but have completed significant equivalent coursework may not be required to take MPAcc foundation coursework. These applicants will be assessed on a course-by-course basis.

This course covers professional level financial accounting and reporting with a focus on the conceptual basis and practical application of United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for the purpose of preparing corporate financial statements. Coverage includes the basics of bookkeeping and the preparation of adjusting entries in regards to assets and related revenue and expense accounts. Furthermore, this course calls attention to the fundamental differences between IFRS and GAAP.

A continuation of ACCT 510 and intended to provide additional coverage of financial accounting topics related to financial statement preparation and external reporting. Furthermore, the course provides additional coverage of financial accounting topics related to financial statement preparation and external reporting. The content of the course provides students with additional tools to develop an in-depth understanding of the traditional financial accounting and covers a variety of subjects.

The course is designed to develop an understanding of the concepts, principles, and practices of cost accounting while assisting students in analyzing the conceptual and measurement issues related to common practices of job order cost accounting, activity-based costing, standard and direct costing, preparation of cost statements, and the analysis of cost information. Additional topics include cost terminology, cost behavior, cost-volume-profit analysis and decision making.

This course covers fundamental tax issues for taxpayers primarily for individuals and, briefly touches some taxation for businesses. This course covers fundamental principles of auditing profession, audit process, and other assurance and nonassurance services related to the CPA profession. Topics include generally accepted auditing standards, tests of controls and substantive tests, statistical sampling, report forms, and opinions. This course provides an in-depth review of additional areas of law and legal concepts important to success in passing the business law section of the CPA exam. The content covers principles of law relating to Uniform Commercial Code with primary emphasis commercial paper, secured transfers, banking laws, bailments, and documents of title. Other areas covered include real and personal property laws, insurance law, and trusts and estates.

This course covers auditing terminology, concepts, principles and examines the procedures for accumulating and evaluating of evidence about information by a competent, independent person to determine and report on the degree of correspondence between the information and established criteria. Auditing challenges you to apply what you have learned in your other accounting classes for the purpose of obtaining and evaluating the evidence and reporting on what you have found.

This course provides basic coverage of business combinations and consolidated financial statements, derivatives, hedge transactions, intercompany transactions, and basic partnership accounting. This course is designed for the topics covered in the Uniform CPA examination.

The course integrates various concepts and different procedures to provide both financial and accounting set of important analytical tools including abilities to read, interpret and compare financial statements, understand cash flow, different accounts on companies’ balance sheet and income statements, basic profitability and risk analysis issues. Prerequisites: successful completion of BADM 502 or approved equivalency. It is strongly recommended that BADM 530 be taken before BADM 531.

Surveys the important aspects of financial management in the international arena, including international financial markets, exchange rate determination, exchange rate and country risks, risk hedging and financial management in international organizations. Forensic literally means the scientific methods and investigations needed to prepare financial information to be presented in a courtroom. Forensic accountants are trained to look beyond the numbers and deal with the reality of a situation from human and numerical information. This course examines all the aspects of a financial crime: accounting, audit, and human behavior. Your final project will focus on crimes involving fraud in international companies to determine if this type of crime is different in an international versus US setting.

This course addresses standards of ethics for accountants and auditors examines the foundations of ethical obligations and codes of conduct applicable to accounting professionals. Students are also taught the nature and scope of ethics standards, and their importance in business and society. The course also reviews professional codes of conduct for principal governing bodies.

This course prepares students to read, interpret and analyze financial statements. The course integrates various concepts and different procedures to provide important analytical tools, including the ability to understand and compare financial statements, cash flows, basic profitability and risk analysis issues, ratio analysis, quality of earnings, valuation, etc. The course utilizes case studies from actual companies and actual financial statements to practice and reinforce material learned.

This course will introduce basic court and criminal procedures, and their role in fraud and forensics; fraud investigations tools and processes; patterns in fraud why, through examination of fraud examples discovered in individual and business actions; the difference between fraud types; the process to obtain the required certifications to conduct forensic and fraud examination; and the legislative actions that have been enacted to assist in fraud prevention.
