Earn an EWU MBA Online in Less Than a Year

Before the advancements in online education, a time commitment of two or more years was considered the norm for earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Now, however, online education models have led to accelerated MBA programs such as Eastern Washington University’s online MBA. In this advanced professional degree program, students are able to complete their MBA in as few as 11 months, alongside their daily lives and work.

How Can I Complete My MBA Coursework in Less Than One Year?

Completing an MBA in 11 months may seem daunting, but EWU’s program design makes it feasible. The online MBA curriculum consists of 11 courses that include core courses, concentration courses and electives. Each course is worth four credit hours, totaling 44 credit hours required for degree completion.

Each course in EWU’s online MBA programs is six weeks long, as opposed to the standard 15 or 16 weeks in a traditional semester. The academic year features seven program start dates and subsequent six-week course periods. Students can finish the entire program in less than a year by completing an average of two courses in each six-week course period. Of course, students may also pace their course load as they choose, taking fewer courses at a time.

Foundation Courses

Foundation courses may be required of students with a non-business bachelor’s degree, depending on their academic mastery of core competencies. EWU offers foundation courses focused on finance, business analytics, and accounting essentials. Each foundation course is worth four credits. However, taking these courses can result in longer degree completion times.

The Online Advantage

Courses in an online MBA program will vary in workload, and student self-pacing in the online learning environment can also vary greatly. Strong MBA programs pride themselves on providing the same academic rigor in their online programs as their on-campus equivalents. Taking courses online eliminates the time spent on commuting and other aspects of campus-based student life, allowing students to fit an online degree program into their busy lives.

With EWU’s online MBA programs, students can quickly advance their academic credentials and career opportunities. The accelerated program design allows working professionals to progress through their education swiftly, putting what they learn to immediate use in the workplace. Moreover, given an MBA graduate’s increased income potential, the possibility of 11-month degree completion can equate to a rapid, substantial return on investment. Balancing work, school, and life’s obligations is no simple task, but with effective time management and determination, earning an accelerated MBA online can be well worth the effort.
